What to Take on a River Cruise

By Adam Beattie

If you are a first time river cruiser heading out on your first river cruise, you may be struggling to work out what to take with you. Taking the right clothing and accessories with you can, in many cases, make or break your holiday. It is important that you get it right if you are not to be put off river cruising in the future.

For obvious reasons (like ice) many river cruises tend to run in the summer months. Because of this cruise passengers can generally pack quite light with summer shirts, shorts and skirts. Obviously sun and insect protection is also a good idea. It can be cool in the evening so a sweater and perhaps a light raincoat are also a good idea.

Carnival Cruise Review of the Miracle

By Mike Chastain

Our Carnival cruise review of the Miracle from our sailing to the Eastern Caribbean. The Miracle is one of the Spirit class of Carnival ships. We simply love this line of ships as they are very modern in appearance and not too gaudy. The artwork appeared as if it was museum quality. You will also see a lot of movie and novel themed areas such as Robison Crusoe, The Great Gatsby and Gotham. When first boarding the ship you will notice that the atrium is in the mold of the Metropolis of Superman fame.

The Miracle is a medium size ship at 88,500 tons and 2,124 passengers. The ship is large enough that no areas seemed to be overcrowded on our sold out cruise. I always recommend going to a dining room for breakfast as there can be lines on the lido for the buffet breakfast. It is always quicker and there are many more menu choices. This will also be a help on days at port as you can get ready for your excursion quicker.

Cruises are much different from travelling in passenger jets or trains perhaps because they offer a fun and memorable adventure. A cruise to Galapagos Islands is no different with a constantly pleasant weather, breathtaking natural beauty, scenic landscapes, green rainforests and sandy white shores. Galapagos is the name of a group of thirteen islands situated 600 miles west of the Ecuadorian Coast in the Pacific. These islands are listed among the World Heritage Sites being a sanctuary for endangered and some very rare animal species.

Enjoy Cruise Tours In Saint Petersburg

Author: Bill Russel

The Baltic region has recently become the hottest cruising destination due to its great cultural and historical heritage.

St.Petersburg cruise port is probably the most attractive Baltic port of call, as no other cruise port can boast of such an abundance of historical monuments and art treasures. 220 cruise ships (around 500 000 cruise passengers) called at St.Petersburg port in 2011 which exceeded the last year's number by 15%.

St.Petersburg cruise tours are widely promoted by numerous local private tour companies who can customize any cruise tour to family or small group's needs. A private St.Petersburg cruise tour for up to 16 people is much more comfortable and flexible as compared to  cruise ship organized tours where you travel on a large coach with 50 people in your group.

Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas Review

By Rich Johnson

RCCL - Freedom of the Seas Review
Itinerary - comments:

Day 1. After arriving at Port Canaveral we parked in the parking lot adjacent to the cruise terminal. It's easy to find parking so don't be concerned about that. We arrived to be greeted with a sizeable slow moving line. This was not Royal Caribbean's fault, but that of disorganized port security people. The port security lady was very impolite when she found out that I didn't have all of my set sail paperwork. Ooops! Make sure that you have your set sail pass paperwork and passport ready to go!

The Christmas Cruising Experience

By Sandy Fierling

For most of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the days are shorter and it's cold and will get colder and many of us just don't appreciate this! We long for the lazy days of summer and not having to bundle ourselves up with clothes to keep ourselves warm, eating outdoors. Yes summer is great and often winter just sucks.

Right now Christmas is around the corner and for many of us this means enormous stress - getting the absolutely perfect present for everyone in your family, for your friends, work colleagues and for your partner and don't forget all the children. Then there's the wrapping, the countless hours spent shopping in the cold, the stress of spending money you might not be able to afford and you won't know if the presents are great until the 25th! Up until then you have to clean your house from top to bottom, bake cookies and other festive fare.
